The essence of tags

Tagging might not be a new concept in itself, but the role it plays especially on web 2.0 can not be overly emphasized. "Tags are relevant keywords associated with a piece of information (an article, an audio file, a video clip, a picture…), enabling keyword-based classification and search information". On Beetnic we've employed the use of tags so that members can tag their works accordingly. They are very helpful in searching for content related materials. So if you want more people searching out your content employ the use of tags, it sure helps our database search engine work smarter.

Creating private forums on Beetnic

Yesterday, I got a request from a fellow member on how to create a private forum. So I've decided to share this tip for the benefit of all. Networks on Beetnic are called communibees, so we'd call private forums private communibees. Here's the tip:

  1. Log-in to Beetnic, click on "Create Communibee" on the left frame of your page or "Start a Communibee"
  2. Enter a name and description
  3. Enter the communibee focus, location and tags
  4. The final step is choosing member access. Since we are concerned with creating a private communibee, select "Restricted".

Aside this, during content publishing you can state if you want your content shared publicly with all on Beetnic or privately with only your communibee members.
